About Montessori

The Montessori method of education was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori at the turn of the 20th century. She developed her method by working with and observing children both with and without disabilities.

Montessori In a Nutshell

  • The child’s mental development occurs similarly to his physical development.
  • In a nurturing environment, the body grows according to the plan of nature. Likewise, the environment plays a crucial role in the child’s mental development.
  • It is through hands-on experience that the child develops his mental powers.
  • The role of the adult is to collaborate with the child, acting as a bridge between him and the environmental experiences that will lead him towards independence.
